DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY
BOARD FOR CORRECTION OF NAVAL RECORDS
701 S. COURTHOUSE ROAD, SUITE 1001
ARLINGTON, VA 22204-2490
TAL
Docket No: 4764-14
8 April 2015
This is in reference to your Application for Correction of
Military Records, DD Form 149, in which you requested removal of
entries regarding desertion from both your Official Military
Personnel File (OMPF) /Navy record and the records maintained by
the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), National Criminal
Information Center (NCIC) .
Following a preliminary review of your record it was noted that
there is no reference to “desertion,” and as such, your request
for removal of type documentation is not warranted. Your record
does, however, reflect a 531 day period of unauthorized absence
that was presumably reported to the FBI. In this regard, be
advised that the Board has no authority to either expunge or
redact FBI reports and/or records, or to recommend changes to a
“national database.”
AS a result of the foregoing, no action is required by t
Board. Accordingly, your case is hereby administrative
without action.
Sincerely,
ROBERT J. O'NEILL
Executive Director
